A fun PC case DIY project
A few days ago, I came across
a video on youtube
where a guy turns an old monitor into a sidepanel for a PC case that can
display different images, and it actually looks pretty good. Diagram of connecting the monitor to the computer.
Considering that the summer break is just a few weeks away, and we’ve
already covered most of the required material in vocational classes,
I pitched the idea to my teacher.
He liked the idea, so we dug through the school
storage room looking for the needed materials and got to work.
I won’t bore you by explaining step by step what we did.
Everything is in the video above, but after a few class hours of
tinkering (and one ruined monitor), the result was better than I expected.
'Much WOW! Such fish!'.
In the end, we got a case that, in the right light, looks pretty decent,
but it also requires a separate power supply, and the cursor keeps
disappearing away during work, because it’s basically just a second monitor. .
Is it necessary? No.
Is it inconvenient and (potentially) dangerous? Yes.
Still, it was fun to build it, if only for the sake of it.
Maybe we’ll show it off to some primary schoolers visiting before
it gets dismantled.
